- What is Spoolstock?
- Spoolstock is an app to help manage your 3D printing process. That includes tracking your filament inventory as well as your prints and projects. When you create a new print, you can deduct the amount of filament you use from your spools to give you a live record of what you have available.
- How much does it cost?
- Spoolstock is free for your first 20 filaments, spools, and prints. After that it's $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
- Why a subscription fee?
- Our goal is for Spoolstock to be a genuinely useful, high-quality tool that members of the 3D printing community can count on every day. To meet that goal, we use reliable, professional-grade services to host and monitor your data, and we provide regular updates so Spoolstock can keep getting better. We hope our community feels that commitment — and we aim to do all of this for about the cost of one spool of filament per year.
- What is NFC?
- NFC is short for "Near Field Communications". Mobile phones can use this technology to write and read special tags. In Spoolstock, this is especially useful to quickly find a spool by attaching an NFC sticker to it and recording the spool information from the "Spool Detail" view. Then, anytime you add spools to a print, or if you want to find it, just tap the scan icon and tap. Any NDEF tags should work and NTAG215 is the most common standard. Here is one example:

- Most standard computer-connected label printers should work well. When labels are generated a PDF document is created. If your printer supports printing PDF files, it should be compatible. Given mobile nature of Spoolstock, you might want to consider a WiFi connected model. Bluetooth printers may not function as expected if they require special software to run. We've had good luck with the following Brother model, but many others will work.
